THOROUGHBRED HORSE PEDIGREE ANALYSIS
Consultlink's unique pedigree analysis system is a highly consistent method of rating the genetic potential of
the thoroughbred horse.
In a business where only 2% of race horses pay their way and where confirmation and looks are, despite the spruiking of
the so called experts poor indicators of likely success* the Consultlink system has now
stood the test of time.
(* An analysis of the top priced yearlings over 20 years shows that most do not win back more than 10%
of their purchase price.)The latest example of this is the aptly named Monkey Business who despite costing US$16 million couldn't
go fast enough to get warm.
Consultlink's computer based system is the result of extensive research into the genetic pattern
of thousands of the world's most successful thoroughbred racehorses.
It is not a system based on conventional "nicks and crosses" where only a few of the horse's ancestors are taken into account.
Rather the rating given is based on the combined genetic information off all the male and female ancestors to the ninth generation.
The research is valid in every country with because of the wider variety of bloodlines, if anything more consistent results
in the Northern Hemisphere.
Consultlink's research has established 5 important categories in the genetic makeup of Group winning
thoroughbreds.
Only 13% of catalogued horses have these genetic patterns but well over 50% of Group winning thoroughbreds have
them.
In other words in a catalogue of 1000 thoroughbred yearlings we have found a method of identifying the 130 yearlings which
statistically have the genetic potential to win most of the Group Races. Another
30 to 40 are in the category of potentially good horses and the remaining yearlings are unlikely to win more than
1 or 2 races.
Developing this further, we found that only 1% to 5% ( depending on the sale ) have
the inverse ratio (e) so often found in champion thoroughbreds.
